A councillor in a Fenland town is appealing for volunteers to join a new speedwatch group.
Chatteris Councillor Ken Perrin contacted them through Cambridgeshire Constabulary following concerns about speeding in Station Street.
He said: “I received a large volume of complaints from the electorate about speeding and drivers carrying out wheelies and performing donuts at the junction of Station Street and Station Road.
“My job is to listen to and act upon the electorates requests and concerns. And this was a big concern for many.
“It really is a dangerous form of anti-social behaviour and I have been asked to address it.”
Ken has contacted Speedwatch through Cambridgeshire Constabulary and the first task is to get community-minded people to volunteer for the scheme.
Police will give full training to all volunteers.
Ken adds “Speedwatch is not only for the Station Street area, it must and will be available throughout Chatteris for the benefit and safety of all the community.
“I am sure the people of Chatteris will really appreciate the people who give to their community by volunteering for this scheme.
