Chatteris Midsummer Festival 2024 returns to the town on Saturday, June 22, and Sunday, June 23.

The festival kicks off with a vibrant movie-themed parade and, on Saturday, there's live music and performances.

These will include a stunt show, stalls, amusements, inflatables, archery and fairground rides, with Party in the Park in the evening.

On Sunday, there's a colour fun run, tug of war and disco with foam cannon, as well as a cream tea tent and dog show (depending on weather).

The event is at Furrowfields Recreation Ground festival, Furrowfields Road, Chatteris, PE16 6DY.

Saturday entry is £2 adults and £1 children. On Sunday it's £1 for all.

The festival opens at 10am Saturday. The opening parade is 11am from Church Lane and expected to arrive at the recreation ground around 11.30am.

Party in the Park is 5pm to 10.30pm, Saturday, with headliners ska tribute act The Gangsters. Also playing are DJ Laura Dennis, Back Two, Abi and Aaron and Emma-Louise.

On Sunday, the festival opens at 10am and closes at 4pm. Planned events include:

  • 10.30am, a dog show or children's sport, depending on the weather
  • From noon, colour fun runs for various age groups
  • 1.15pm, tug of war
  • 2pm, water fights
  • 2.30pm, disco with foam cannon

Registration for the dog show is 10am and 11am for the colour fun run.

Walking, cycling and use of public transport to get to the event is encouraged for those who can.

Motorists are requested to park courteously. Free parking is available in Furrowfields Road car parks. Access to Furrowfields Road car parks is not possible during the parade.

Town centre road closures will be in place Saturday to allow for the parade to pass through. To minimise disruption, roads reopen once the parade has been through.

Roads may be closed anytime between 9am and 1pm.

With the exception of entry to the festival, Furrowfields Recreation Ground will be closed to the public Friday, June 21 to Monday, June 24 to enable set up and removal of equipment.

Chatteris Festival is led by a dedicated volunteer organising committee, supported by Chatteris Town Council and is a Fenland Four Seasons event.
