A care home in the Fens has opened its doors to emergency service workers, offering free food and drinks during their breaks.

Staff at Hickathrift House Care Home in Marshland St James near Wisbech are showing their gratitude to paramedics, nurses, and police who rarely have the opportunity to return home or to their workplace during their time off.

Paula Colman, the general manager of Hickathrift House Care Home, said: "To say thank you for all of the great work our emergency services do for us, we here at Hickathrift are inviting all members of the police, ambulance and fire services to pop in and take their duty break on us for free."

Local paramedic Phillip Neal, who has visited the care home, spoke highly of their hospitality.
