A school girl aged just six-years-old took gold alongside her rescue dog at a village gala last weekend.
Amelia Neave won 'Best in Show' and 'Best Junior Handler' at the Manea Gala Dog Show on July 14, beating more than 80 contestants for the top spot.
The junior handler, who attends Manea Community Primary School, presented Barney, a rescue dog from Gran Canaria in Spain unaided in front of a packed audience.
The duo competed in three different categories, including 'waggiest tale' and 'remarkable rescue', and triumphed in the junior handler category.
Amelia is now using the experience to write a letter to Blue Peter in the hope of receiving a Blue Peter badge.
She told Cambs Times: "
Amelia's mum, Beth Neave, said: "Even though Amelia fell down a few times during the show, she got back up every time and showed her determination and resilience.
"Amelia rescued Barney from a company called Pet Pals. She had really wanted a retired greyhound, but we have cats so we decided to go for a younger rescue sight hound instead.
"Barney is two-years-old in September and was rescued from an awful farm where multiple animals were rescued at the same time. He's such a good boy who has such a beautiful bond with Amelia.
She added: "Amelia is animal mad and has always loved anything to do with dogs. She has two cats, a dog and a hamster. She entered the dog show on the day at Manea Gala and was adamant she wanted to do it all by herself with no help.
"We are all so proud of her."
