"I've lost a trailer full of my personal possessions - it's like I've lost everything."

Those are the words of the owner of a Cambridgeshire coach company, who saw two of his buses and a trailer go up in flames.

Cambridgeshire Police have launched an investigation into the blaze which happened in Haddenham last night (Thursday August 1).

The fire was reported to Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service at 6.05pm yesterday with crews from Cottenham, Ely, Chatteris, Soham and Newmarket in attendance.

The owner of Young's Coaches, Edward Young, expressed concern about the nature of the fire on Facebook shortly after the blaze was extinguished.

He told the Ely Standard that he had tried to put the fire out himself using a hose pipe.

"I began to smell smoke and rushed down immediately, but it was a huge blaze.

"I tried to put out the fire out myself, but the tyres were bursting like shotguns.

He added: "I've lost a trailer full of my personal possessions, it's like I've lost everything".

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire Police confirmed officers will visit the site today.

“Officers were called by the fire service at 6.24pm yesterday to reports of a bus fire at the bus depot on Lode Way, Haddenham. There was no requirement for police attendance at that time.

“The Ely Neighbourhood Policing Team (NPT) are aware of the incident and plans are in place to visit the site today.

“Enquiries are ongoing and anyone who saw anything in the area at the time is urged to contact police online or call 101, quoting incident 439 of August 1.”

Earlier today, Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service however released a statement confirming the cause of the fire was accidental.

It added: "Firefighters arrived to find a bus fire which had spread to a second bus and trailer.

"Crews used hose reels and jets to extinguish the fire and returned to their stations by 9.30pm."
