2,000 tonnes of baled straw was set on fire in Chatteris over the bank holiday weekend.

A Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service crew from Chatteris were called to Langwood Fen Drove on Sunday, August 25 at around 5:54pm after reports of a large fire in the field.

They arrived to find the straw in flames.

The crew decided to let the fire burn itself out, but one group stayed on the site until lunchtime on August 26 to make sure it did not spread to any nearby outbuildings.

The fire service has confirmed that the cause of the fire was deliberate. Anyone with information should contact Cambridgeshire Police by visiting their website to submit an online report or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
