24 Hours in Police Custody: Murder on Prescription came to its conclusion last night (September 11).

The two part programme featured the murder of Eliza Bibby, a 47-year-old disabled woman from Wisbech who was fatally stabbed in the neck in January 2023.

Part One showed Cambridgeshire Police's investigation to find Eliza Bibby's killer and featured three arrests. The episode finished with a discovery of a knife on a roof nearby Eliza Bibby's bungalow.

The second part, which played on Channel 4 last night, opened with an audio clip of the 999 call made by the friend of Eliza Bibby who found her body.

Viewers then saw the discovery a knife with blood on it on a garage roof in Beechwood Close, near Eliza's bungalow. Tests then confirmed that the blood on the knife was Eliza's.

A DNA analysis came back with a hit - Jamie Boughen - which DI Dale Mepstead described as "coming out of left field".

Boughen was arrested at a charity-owned house, which he lived in as he fell through a roof in 2017 and broke his back and since suffered with spinal damage.

CCTV footage from inside the house shows Boughen letting an individual in at 11pm, leaving with the man at midnight and coming home later.

When officers searched Boughen's home, the man captured on the CCTV, called Jack, arrived at the house looking for Boughen. He was then arrested.

The pair are both interviewed and Boughen maintained his innocence throughout. He told the police that "it isn't his cup of tea" and that he isn't a violent person.

Further CCTV footage later emerged showing the pair changing their clothes and washing them. Boughen was seen bleaching his clothes, which he told the police he always does.

The case against Jack diminished as his movements captured on CCTV do not suggest he went near Eliza's bungalow that night.

However, Cambridgeshire Police officers then pursue a lead that Boughen may have been visiting Eliza Bibby's bungalow for prescription pain killers for his spinal damage.

Boughen had oxycodone in custody (an opiate-based pain killer) that had not been prescribed to him, suggesting that he may have got it from Eliza Bibby.

The police were then told that Eliza Bibby and Jamie Boughen had got into an argument before she was killed. Eliza did not want to supply Jamie anymore.

CCTV footage from Boughen's home caught him leaving and coming home before Jack arrived. He had changed his clothes and his hands and forearms are red from being scrubbed.

In a follow up interview, Boughen responded to all questions with "no comment". The final DNA results came back from the knife and it was Boughen's - he was then charged with murder.

A former friend of Boughen's said: "He never came across as the sort of guy who would do that.

"People will do anything because of addiction, they'll take a life over a couple of tablets."

Jamie Boughen was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 22 years for Eliza's murder.

At the end of the episode, tributes were paid to Mark Coleman, Mark Hall, Christine Bibby and Eliza Bibby.
