Free creative workshops are set to launch in three towns.

FenCreators, a programme run by the local arts organisation MarketPlace, will begin this month in Chatteris, Whittlesey, and Wisbech.

The initiative aims to tackle loneliness and isolation by offering 15 weeks of artistic experiences.

The workshops are open to individuals aged 18 and above and cater to all skill levels, from complete beginners to enthusiasts.

They will be led by professional artists, including Sean Dendere, Ann Bellamy, Debbie Munford, Emily Steele-Dias, and Louise and Simon Taggart from Blended Monkey.

The artists will bring their unique creative practices to the workshops, which will include activities such as sewing, filmmaking, and pottery.

Each artist will conduct five weeks of workshops across the three towns, and participants can choose to book these as a series or as standalone sessions.

All workshops are free of charge.

MarketPlace creative producer, Peggy Mends, said: "It's about bringing people together, nurturing creativity, and building stronger communities- all while having a go at something new.

"We're excited to see how this initiative will provide unique opportunities and enrich the lives of Fenland residents, especially those who might be feeling lonely."

The programme was inspired by a successful pilot of quilting workshops in Chatteris, which was organised in response to community requests.

It is part of the Creative Lives Know Your Neighbourhood Project, funded by the UK Government and Arts Council England.

A spokesman for MarketPlace said: "By encouraging participants to engage in artistic activities alongside others, FenCreators provides a unique opportunity to build meaningful relationships and reduce feelings of isolation.

"The programme's supportive environment allows individuals to work at their own pace, promoting mental wellbeing through creative expression."
