A car used by Hollywood legend, Pierce Brosnan, while he was starring as James Bond, was recently up for auction in Cambridgeshire.
The 2001 Aston Martin Vanquish was the car that the then-007 used to promote the twentieth Bond film, Die Another Day.
Pierce Brosnan was invited to the Aston Martin factory to take a look at the Vanquish before he began filming Die Another Day, and he was reportedly "bowled over" by the car.
It was then used as the car that Pierce Brosnan posed in for promotional photos and videos for the James Bond film.
After its appearance in the James Bond universe, the former owner paid tribute to its fame by having the appropriate number plate of M16 SPY put onto the car.
The movie star owned his own Aston Martin Vanquish until 2015, when it was destroyed in a house fire.
The bona fide Bond memorabilia was listed for auction at the Duxford Imperial War Museum in Cambridgeshire through H&H Auctioneers, who specialise in the sale of cars and motorcycles. It sold for £46,000.
As well as serving as the promotional car for Die Another Day, the Aston Martin Vanquish was also the lead car in a parade to commemorate the opening of the M6 Toll Road.
It was one of seven cars that were initially retained by Aston Martin to be used for press duties. The former owner of the Vanquish took the car to the Le Mans 24-hours endurance race and other parts of the globe, touring with the Aston Martin Owners' Club.
There were many classic cars up for auction at the Imperial War Museum, including Jaguars, Porsches and Bentleys.
