Households in Fenland may soon receive visits from council officials as part of the annual canvass.

The electoral canvassers, employed by Fenland District Council, will be making household visits from November 8 to December 8 to encourage responses.

This annual process is legally required to keep the electoral register current, ensuring all eligible voters are registered.

The council had contacted every residential address in Fenland in August and September to verify register details.

Reminders were sent in October, but for those who have still not responded, personal visits will now be made.

If no one is home, canvassers will leave a calling card explaining the visit's purpose and the necessary steps.

New names added to the register will receive an invitation to register to vote, but these names won't be included in the electoral register until applications are successfully completed.

However, new eligible residents can register online at any time.

The revised Register of Electors will be published on February 1, 2025, due to an election during the canvass period.
