A new Christmas village has opened in Cambridge.
The winter wonderland, called Christmas in Cambridge, is located at Parker's Piece and opened its gates to the public for the first time this year.
The event is the first of a seven-year deal with Cambridge City Council and will run until January 5, 2025.
The Christmas village is free to enter and has been designed to appeal to residents of all ages with a range of entertainment, food stalls, and shopping options.
Simon Brooks, director of Seventa Events, the business behind Christmas in Cambridge, said: “We are thrilled to throw open the gates of Christmas in Cambridge and welcome residents to this magical Christmas village.
"Open every day except Christmas Day, Christmas in Cambridge captures the magic of the holiday season and with a wide array of hospitality and entertainment, it has something for everyone.
"With a 7-year contract in place, we look forward to growing this event into something truly special for Cambridge, creating jobs, boosting the local economy, and generating revenue for hotels, restaurants and retailers.”
The event will feature a Christmas market with local and national traders, an ice rink, an Alpine Lodge, a Christmas tree maze, an Après Terrace, and a 36-metre-tall big wheel.
The ice rink will be Cambridge's largest outdoor rink and will welcome all ages and abilities.
There will be skate aids for beginners and viewing platforms and heated domes for those who prefer to stay off the ice.
The Alpine Lodge will be the ideal place to enjoy a festive drink while listening to Christmas tunes.
The Après Terrace will be the hub for festive fun and games in Cambridge.
The big wheel will offer stunning views over Cambridge, complemented by a vintage carousel and the Christmas tree maze.
