A hospital trust has launched its annual Christmas Giving Tree appeal to help disadvantaged young people.

The initiative, set up by the North West Anglia NHS Trust, aims to bring Christmas joy to children and youngsters in our communities who might not otherwise receive any presents.

The appeal was first started in 2016 by trust staff member, Natalie Styles-Hudson.

Ms Styles-Hudson said: “This year the need is greater than ever because times are incredibly hard for some.

"The appeal will deliver gifts to underprivileged children and young people in schools, hostels, and domestic abuse refuges across Peterborough, Huntingdon, and Fenland.

"By participating, people help brighten Christmas for young people facing challenging circumstances."

The initiative offers a variety of ways for people to contribute.

Giving Trees have been set up in the main atrium at Peterborough City Hospital, and the main entrances at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and Stamford and Rutland Hospital.

These trees have gift tags for people to choose from, each tag representing a child’s name and age.

People are encouraged to select a tag, purchase an appropriate gift, and return the presents to the reception desks.

For those unable to visit the trees, there's the option to purchase a gift online via the Amazon wishlist.

Monetary donations are also welcomed and will be used to purchase gifts for those in need.
