NEW principal of the College of West Anglia is David Pomfret, former principal of Boston College and currently a director at Tribal, the national consultancy company.
Mr Pomfret, 43, will take up the post in August, succeeding current principal Peter Stewart, who is to retire.
"I am delighted to be taking over as principal at such an exciting time in the college's development," said Mr Pomfret. "Peter Stewart has been an outstanding principal and I am privileged to be appointed as his successor and given the opportunity to work with such a strong staff team to build on the college's success."
Peter Dixon, chairman of the board of the College of West Anglia, said the board selection panel was unanimous in its choice of Mr Pomfret and added: "He is a man with passion, vision and enthusiasm for the challenging job of taking the college forward over the next few years. He also has tremendous experience of the further education sector."
The college, led by Mr Stewart for 12 years, currently has more than 3,000 16-18 students and about 10,000 adult learners.
Last year it merged with Isle College, Wisbech, having merged eight years previously with the Cambridgeshire College of Agriculture and Horticulture, which also had a Wisbech campus.
The college is currently in the process of public consultation on its major capital investment programme which will lead to major new college developments in both March and King's Lynn.
