Saturday night quiz show The Weakest Link will return for a new series later in 2024 with host Romesh Ranganathan, the BBC has confirmed.

The 'iconic' BBC quiz show originally began back in 2000, hosted by Anne Robinson before coming to an end on 2012.

The BBC then rebooted The Weakest Link back in 2021 with comedian Romesh Ranganathan stepping in as host.

The game show now features celebrity contestants and has, since its reboot, featured the likes of Strictly Come Dancing Judge Anton Du Beke, I'm a Celebrity and Made in Chelsea star Georgia Toffolo, Celebrity Big Brother 2024 housemate and former This Morning host Fern Britton along with a range of other big names.

On the show the celebrities must work as a team to build a cash prize for charity whilst trying to avoid the walk of shame and being voted ‘The Weakest Link’ by their fellow contestants.

One player is then crowned the Strongest Link and secures the prize money for charity.

BBC confirms new series of The Weakest Link

The BBC has confirmed a new series of The Weakest Link will return later in 2024, with Ranganathan set to host for the fourth time.

The new series begins filming in Glasgow in Spring, with The Weakest Link returning to BBC One and BBC iPlayer later this year.

The BBC said the celebrity contestants for the new series would be confirmed in due course.

The new series will feature a number of special themed episodes including Strictly Come Dancing, comedians, Gladiators, and duos, with more to be announced.

Talking about the new series Ranganathan said: "It’s really a delight to be part of the BBC One Saturday night experience.

"I once again look forward to taking the credit if it goes well and blaming the format if it doesn’t.”
